This magnificent masterpiece of architectural splendour was originally built by Maharaj Bhupal Singh in 1911. Palaces such as this one are completely unique to India and in particular Udaipur, which provides its own individual charm of its fairy tale lakes that allow these images to be mirrored and duplicated in the reflection of the liquid blue waters. The Hotel is situated on the hilltop overlooking the serene Fatehsagar Lake, Aravalli Hills and Sajjangarth Palace. The Hotel was originally built as a residence for Mr Winngate political agent of the time, in 1945 Mr Winngate was relocated to Hathi Pole and the Palace was rebuilt as royal guest house to house the dignitaries, visiting princes and high ranking British officers. The Hotel sits on 23 acres of well manicured lawns and radiates a royal and regal charm of an earlier era. The Hotel is well connected with the national highways and is a comfortable 27 kilometres from the airport and 5 kms from the railway station.

The Sur Suga houses a typically colonial ambience that perfectly provides the setting for an extensive range of imported wines, liqueurs, malt whiskies and indulgent concoctions' created by the head barman. The space is decked out in comfortable pin stripped red and white chairs, having dark wood arms and low slung dark wood tables, the marble floors are mirrored in the cream walls accented with ancient photographs and works of art, elegant light fittings and ceiling fans draw attention to the marvellously high ceilings.
